A Special Message from South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson |
Dear Friends,
It has been an honor to serve as your Chairman through another year of unprecedented Republican successes in South Carolina. The South Carolina Republican Party is the most successful state party in the country.
Our historic victories last fall, including Governor Mark Sanford’s landslide re-election, attest to the universal appeal of the South Carolina Republican Party’s conservative values and vision for reform. These ideals are shared by thousands of grassroots activists, local and county party organizations, generous donors and elected leaders. Too many Republicans across the country lost their direction this past year, but here in South Carolina our candidates boasted records of conservative accomplishment and limited government.
In our nation’s capital, where Republican checks on radical Democrat leadership will give voice to the conservative values South Carolinians hold dear, we are pleased to have four Congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives teamed up with U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint. Our representatives in Washington, D.C., will keep career politicians on Capitol Hill focused on making President George W. Bush’s historic tax cuts permanent and safeguarding our country against terrorist threats.
Closer to home, the Republican Party couldn’t be in a better position to limit the growth of government, rein in spending and hold leaders accountable to their constituents. Governor Mark Sanford and Republicans in the General Assembly will cut taxes and return our hard-earned money back to us. The First in the South Republican presidential primary is fast-approaching. South Carolina Republicans will have the unique chance to talk candidly with presidential candidates from across the country. These candidates know they need to court the critical support of the most loyal Republicans in America – South Carolina Republicans.
I would be remiss if I failed to thank you, the thousands of volunteers, activists, county chairmen, donors and candidates for making this historic election possible. With your help, our Party will solidify the conservative foothold we've worked hard to achieve. I am committed to continued Republican success in South Carolina. I look forward to your help in keeping our party united and strong.
Katon Dawson Chairman
